Cthulhu: Dark Providence is a competitive strategy game for 1 to 5 players set in the 1930s USA. The Great Depression has arrived, and with it, the influence of the Ancient Ones. Based on the world of Cthulhu: Death May Die, this game focuses on the darker side of human nature—selfishness, paranoia, and the struggle for power while the world stands on the brink of ruin.

Secret Identities and Shifting Loyalties

At the start of the game, players are secretly assigned to a faction: Investigators, Cultists, or Renegades. While the game isn't cooperative, your faction determines how you score victory points (VP). The challenge lies in advancing your agenda without revealing your true colors to your opponents.

A Unique Path to Victory

The game features a high-stakes group elimination mechanic:

• At the end of the game, the player with the lowest score is identified.

• That player, and everyone sharing their affiliation, is immediately eliminated from contention.

• The winner is the remaining player with the highest score. This forces players to ensure their faction succeeds as a whole, while still competing to be the best within that faction.

Gameplay Highlights

• Influence & Control: Use influence dice to take control of major cities and secure vital resources.

• Dynamic Deck-Building: Acquire Network cards to customize your deck, granting you more powerful actions and assets as the game progresses.

• Agent Management: Send out agents to do your bidding, but be careful—pushing their sanity too far might lead to their demise. You can even bribe or assassinate rival agents.

• Mythos Power: Harness the terrifying power of Mythos cards to gain an edge, open or close gates, and manipulate the fate of the world.

• Solo Mode Included: Take on the Ancient Ones alone with dedicated rules, behavior cards, and unique challenges.
