ORBITO is basically a 3D upgrade of Tic-Tac-Toe — a familiar idea, but turned into something far more tactical and exciting.
Forget pen and paper. Instead, you get beautiful, heavy, glossy marbles. And the best part?

But — plot twist — any movement you make also affects your own marbles.
Because at the end of every turn, you press a central button that shifts all marbles one space counterclockwise.

How it plays

Rules take a minute to learn. Each turn:

1️⃣ optionally move an opponent’s marble to an adjacent free space
2️⃣ place your own marble anywhere free on the board
3️⃣ press the button → all marbles shift

The goal is simple: get 4 marbles in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
Simple? Yes.

With your opponent sabotaging moves and the whole board shifting every turn, you’ll need constant adaptation and forward planning.

I have to admit right from the start – I’m a huge Witcher fan. I’ve read the books, played the video games, watched the series… and now I’ve experienced Cesta osudu, in its Deluxe Edition, which completely drew me in.
But beware – this isn’t a game you just “play through.” To truly enjoy it, you have to let yourself be absorbed by the story. Step into your role, read between the lines, and feel the world pulsing with magic, blood, and humanity. Without that immersion, the game would lose the essence of The Witcher itself.

And that’s exactly what makes Cesta osudu so special. It’s not about the cards or victory points – it’s about the stories that unfold based on your choices. Even the smallest decision can change the course of destiny.

Zaklínač: Cesta osudu is, above all, a story-driven game. Each playthrough feels like reading one of Sapkowski’s short stories – except this time, you decide how the plot unfolds. Players take on the roles of Geralt, Yennefer, Dandelion, Ciri, or Vesemir and relive iconic tales like The Striga, The Lesser Evil, or The End of the World.

But this isn’t about “saving the world.” You all share the same story, yet you compete to leave the greatest mark upon it. Every turn is a fragment of fate that can alter history – and that’s where the real magic lies. You never know whether the story will follow a familiar path or take a completely unexpected turn because your rivals have different goals.

Mechanically, the game works surprisingly smoothly. Each player has their own character deck and plays action cards during each chapter, gaining symbols of four types – combat, diplomacy, magic, and exploration. These symbols influence the story indicators and determine how the chapter will develop.

Gameplay follows a clear structure that perfectly mirrors the rhythm of storytelling. Each round begins with players secretly choosing a card from their hand. Once everyone reveals their choice, the cards are placed onto each player’s timeline, representing the sequence of actions taken during the chapter. The effects of these cards can shift story indicators, grant experience, change initiative order, or influence other players. After all cards have been played, the timeline is resolved from left to right, and depending on whether the light or dark indicator dominates, the chapter’s ending is determined.

Each full story consists of three chapters, forming a complete narrative arc filled with decisions, consequences, and twists. Players gain experience and victory points throughout the story, which are tallied at the end. The result isn’t just a score – it’s a unique tale that will never play out the same way twice.

Every action matters, every choice leaves a mark. The Fate Tokens and shifting story paths make each game feel alive and reactive. This isn’t just a game “based on The Witcher” – this is The Witcher.

Another huge plus – all game components are completely language-independent. The only text you’ll find is in the Czech rulebook, which clearly explains everything you need to know to dive into the world of Zaklínač.

Playing Cesta osudu in its Deluxe Edition is a true treat. Each character comes with a detailed plastic miniature used on the initiative track, and a 3D scoring marker – a beautifully sculpted symbol of that character, used on the victory point track. These miniatures are wonderfully crafted and make the game feel like a true collector’s piece.

The 3D double-layered character boards feature slots for experience markers – everything stays perfectly in place and looks fantastic on the table.

Every card, illustration, and piece of text breathes with the dark humor, tragedy, and irony of Sapkowski’s world. The designers clearly worked hard to ensure that each story feels authentic, while still giving you the freedom to alter its outcome. Even Dandelion’s introduction in the rulebook is a little literary gem – ironic, confident, and poetic, exactly as you’d expect from him.

Unlike many other card-driven games, this one isn’t about combos or pure tactics. It rewards reading, observation, and immersion in the narrative. It’s a game that will delight even those who aren’t usually “board game strategists.”

There’s also a solo mode that works surprisingly well – the Automa simulates an opponent, letting you enjoy the story on your own.

7 Wonders: The Dice Game is a clever and fast-paced roll & write version of the famous civilization game. Each player gets their own city board and an erasable pencil. Dice are rolled in the Forum, and based on the results you decide how to develop your city – strengthen your military, expand trade, invest in science, or move forward with the construction of your Wonder.

Turns are simple: choose a die from the Forum, pay its cost in coins, and cross off the matching space in your city. If you’re short on resources, you can cross out coins in your treasury. If you’d rather pass, you circle three new coins instead and prepare for the next round.

Your player board clearly shows your progress: in the barracks you mark attacks against your neighbors and record victory points right next to them; in the market you expand your trade routes; at the university you unlock special white, black, or purple dice. The Gallery of Leaders grants useful effects and victory points at the end of the game. And whenever you complete a whole building, you also gain a bonus.

The Hobbit – There and Back Again

An adventure drawn on a map

Bilbo Baggins had a plan: stay in his cozy hobbit-hole, eat well, and live quietly. But then Gandalf arrived, followed by thirteen dwarves – and quiet life was over. Bilbo got dwarves and a magic ring for his journey; you get a marker, a map, and a handful of dice. And believe me, that’s all you need.

Because the whole adventure is written onto that map. Every line you draw is a step across Middle-earth. Every symbol you roll is a decision – to host, to fight, to flee, or to pray for rescue. The Hobbit: There and Back Again retells Tolkien’s story in eight chapters, each one a half-hour game full of tension and surprises.

Dice that tell stories

On the table are five white dice with symbols, plus a black twelve-sider that drives events. The white dice bring:

  • Paths, to connect characters, places, and goals.

  • Bread, to feed the company during feasts or camps.

  • Swords, to fight enemies or alter the black die’s results.

  • Gandalf’s hat, unleashing special magical effects.

  • And the burglar action, letting you take the symbol you desperately need.

The black die is where the drama lies. Sometimes it triggers storms, sometimes spiders, sometimes wargs, or even the flames of Smaug that destroy houses in Lake-town.

Eight chapters, eight moods

The game unfolds as a campaign across Bilbo’s journey:

  • In An Unexpected Party, you welcome dwarves into Bag End and prepare food. A gentle introduction.

  • In Roast Mutton, three trolls block your way and every misstep hurts.

  • Riddles in the Dark becomes a tense puzzle, with Gollum’s riddles decided by the black die.

  • Out of the Frying-Pan into the Fire is a frantic race: wargs chase your company, flaming pinecones fly, and only the Eagles can save you.

  • In Mirkwood, spiders trap dwarves in webs and you race to free them.

  • The final act comes at the Lonely Mountain, and then the climax: Smaug attacks Lake-town, with the black die deciding which house burns. What began as calm path-drawing ends as a desperate sprint for survival.

Each chapter shifts the rhythm, the challenges, and the atmosphere – from a cozy feast to fiery inferno.

Playing with others

Though each player draws on their own map, the game isn’t solitary. Victory often depends on racing – who connects key points first, who defeats enemies first, who earns the better reward. And the black die brings events that affect everyone at the table: storms, warg attacks, or houses burning in Lake-town. It creates constant tension, keeping eyes on both your own map and your opponents’.

And if you’re alone

The Hobbit also offers a full solo mode. You have only eight rounds to complete the journey, splitting dice into sets and drawing shapes from the black die each turn. Every decision is yours alone – no one to save you. It feels tighter, harsher, and often unforgiving – yet still captures the full theme of the adventure.

The strength of The Hobbit lies in how mechanics and story are inseparable. The black die isn’t just a number – it’s a storm, a riddle, or Smaug’s fire. The Hobbit: There and Back Again isn’t heavy strategy – it’s a story you live. One game you’re laughing at dwarves overcrowding Bag End, the next you’re holding your breath as spiders capture your friends, and at the end you’re sweating over the black die as Smaug attacks your house.

Mass Effect: The Board Game – Story, Tension, and Team Tactics

Mass Effect“So, Shepard is saving the galaxy again, but this time with cards and dice,” laughs Karel as we set up the game board. “I’m taking Garrus, I can already hear his iconic line in my head.”
“Fine,” I reply, “then I’ll be Liara, because asari rule biotics. And someone has to keep you hotheads in check.”

And that’s how our first campaign of Mass Effect: The Board Game begins, a tabletop adaptation of the legendary BioWare PC and console series that brings the best of the digital universe to the table. The atmosphere is intense from the very start: a campaign map full of main missions, loyalty quests for each hero, and a storybook packed with dozens of passages that shape the fate of the galaxy.

Each player chooses a character – Shepard, Garrus, Liara, Tali, or Wrex – and together we embark on missions that branch based on success or failure. “Look, if we mess this up,” says Petr as we start the Breakthrough mission, “the Reactor is going to blow and we’re done for.”
“Relax,” I tell him, “I’ve got an ability that gives us a reroll, just cover me.”

This game isn’t about everyone playing for themselves. It’s all about cooperation and tactics. Each mission has its own special conditions, enemies, and objectives, and it’s not just about the dice – it’s about how well we synchronize our skills as a team. The reward isn’t only the victory points marked by dots on the campaign map, but the feeling that we’ve truly moved the story forward.

The storybook adds even more tension, since some passages grant you a victory point, while others take one away, and every choice you make immediately shapes what happens next. When we completed Tali’s loyalty mission, it wasn’t just about the extra point, it was about helping her and making her story feel more personal. Just like fans remember from the video games – it’s all about relationships, choices, and consequences.

And here, it all unfolds at the table, with dice, cards, and plenty of laughter as well as tense moments. This game is a must for anyone who loves Mass Effect, because it lets you relive the galactic drama in a cooperative campaign. But it’s also great for board gamers who want a strong story, suspense, and team strategy.

“So, what do you think,” I ask after we finish Mission A, “do we go for Mission B?”
“Of course,” comes the unanimous reply. Because the galaxy won’t save itself.

How to Play Azul Duel – Simple and Clear

Azul Duel is a new version of the popular Azul game designed for two players. It introduces new strategic elements, such as arch construction, bonus tiles, and variable scoring, adding a new tactical dimension to the game.

🏗️ How to Play Azul Duel?

Game Setup

  1. Place 4 small factories and 1 large factory on the table.

  2. Distribute 4 tiles on each small factory, and 5 tiles on the large factory.

  3. Shuffle the decoration tiles, place them face down, and reveal 3.

  4. The player who last decorated something goes first. The other player selects one of the revealed decoration tiles and places it on their arch. Then, a new tile is drawn. The starting player does the same.

Game Flow – 5 Rounds

Each round consists of three phases:

🔹 Tile Selection – Players take turns choosing:

  • Place a player token and take a decoration tile.

  • Take all tiles of the same color from the sunlit side of a factory.

  • Take all top tiles of the same color from the moonlit sides of all factories.

  • Take a revealed bonus tile.

🔹 Arch Decoration and Scoring – Players place tiles on their arch:

  • The more adjacent tiles, the higher the score.

  • Decorative and mosaic tiles provide different benefits.

  • Completing objectives grants extra points at the end of the game.

🔹 Preparing the Next Round – Factories are refilled, players reclaim their tokens, and new decoration tiles are revealed.

  • Decorative Tiles – Can only be filled with a decorative tile, which grants bonus points.

  • Mosaic Tiles – Feature a multicolored space where any tile can be placed.
