Yōkaï no Mori introduces children and beginners to the ancient Japanese strategy game of Shogi through two simplified, charming variants.
Dōbutsu Shogi: Each player has just four pieces — a chick, giraffe, elephant, and lion — and tries to either capture the opponent's lion or safely move their own lion to the opponent's back row. Simple, elegant, and perfect for young players.
The second variant adds a few more piece types, serving as a bridge to the full Shogi game. A beautifully illustrated introduction to one of the world's great strategy games. 2 players | Ages 5+
