KUBA (CZ) - nová edice

Product detailed description

A board game filled with sunshine, cigars, and rum.

Pre-revolutionary Cuba: In turbulent times, the island's cities strive for independent wealth and influence. Who will trade their crops and commodities most profitably on the domestic market, or earn the most by exporting them via merchant ships? Who will send influential representatives to parliament to shape the laws and build distilleries, hotels, and banks for the prosperity of the island?

The New Edition of the classic strategy game CUBA combines the beloved core gameplay with the best elements from its expansion EL PRESIDENTE, adding fine-tuned adjustments while retaining the signature warmth and atmosphere of the original game!

GAMEPLAY & MECHANICS

The game is played over 6 rounds, each consisting of 6 phases (Setup, Actions, Event, Parliament, Laws, and Cleanup). The goal is to collect the most victory points by exporting goods, constructing buildings, and complying with laws.

1. Strategic Character Selection (Hand Management & Tactical Placement): Each player holds a matching set of 5 character cards. In the Action Phase, players play 4 of their characters:

   • Worker: Harvests crops (citrus, sugarcane, tobacco) and raw materials (wood, water, stone) on your plantation grid. Keep an eye on irrigation—larger harvests require water supplies!

   • Architect: Constructs new buildings on your plantation, providing ongoing abilities, victory points, and special perks.

   • Foreman: Triggers the abilities of built structures (including your starting Warehouse).

   • Trader: Buys and sells goods on a dynamic market for pesos.

   • Mayor: Loads harvested commodities and refined products (rum, cigars) onto merchant ships in the harbor for substantial victory points.

2. Visiting the Promenade: Instead of playing a character card, a player can place their car token onto the Promenade. This grants a unique action (Dancer, Lawyer, Day Laborer, etc.) while blocking an event from triggering at the end of the round.

3. Parliament & Legislation: The 5th (remaining) character card in hand determines your voting power in Parliament. Players can secretly buy extra votes using pesos. The player with the most votes becomes the lawmaker and enacts 2 new laws (Tax, Duty, Subsidy, or Restriction laws), altering the scoring rules and economy for all players.

4. Spoilage & Storage: Careful resource management is key! Unstored crops spoil under the tropical sun at the end of each round, whereas raw materials and processed goods (rum, cigars) never decay.
