Welcome to the world of the Tekiya – Japan's street-stall vendors and hucksters, who've been operating on the fringes of the law since the early 17th century, yet remain a fixture of every shrine festival and temple market. But when one of them starts boasting that his kakigori beats everyone else's, the joke's over, and the showdown moves to a dark corner of the park.

It plays fast and purely on reflex: players take turns flipping cards from their own deck face-up into the middle of the table, where an arsenal of guns steadily piles up. The moment a loaded gun points from grip to barrel between two players, a shootout happens – whoever loses, or messes up first, has to scoop up all the cards from the centre. The first player to run out of cards wins.

DAN DAN DAN is released as a limited edition of only 999 hand-numbered copies, with a handful of collector extras included alongside the game itself. The cards are made of sturdy kraft paper and the pieces of beech wood from local forests, all printed with water-based, chemical-free inks.
