High Society is Reiner Knizia's classic auction game, now dressed in a brand new luxurious edition from Allplay. Players bid to acquire cards representing wealth (money and multiplier cards), as well as cards that take wealth away (negative and divisor cards) – but be careful with your cash. Whoever ends the game with the least money can't win, no matter how much luxury they've piled up!
On your turn, flip the top card from the deck and the auction begins – players raise their bids one at a time using the money cards in their hand until everyone but one has passed. The winner pays for the card and adds it to their collection, while everyone else keeps their spent money cards back in hand. Negative and divisor cards work in reverse: players race to pay the least in order to avoid taking the card at all.
At the end of the game, points from all acquired wealth cards are totaled, multiplied by any multiplier cards, and reduced by negative cards – but the player with the least money left is automatically out of contention, regardless of their score.
