After the Axis powers were expelled from North Africa, the Allies began preparing their next move: the invasion of Sicily – Operation Husky. But the Abwehr already suspected the target. To mislead them, the Allies launched a bold deception campaign known as Operation Barclay.

Operation Barclay is an accessible two-player strategy game about the intelligence war in the Mediterranean during 1942–1943. One player takes the role of the Abwehr, trying to uncover the true Allied invasion plans. The other leads the London Controlling Section (LCS), whose mission is to deceive and prevent the enemy from discovering the truth.

At the start of the game, the LCS secretly assigns invasion markers to five strategic Mediterranean locations, designating a primary and a secondary target. Over the course of six game months, the Abwehr works to gather enough evidence tokens to reveal the true invasion sites, while the LCS strives to obscure them.

Evidence is gained through a card mechanic reminiscent of poker. Players form hands to win tokens, with bluffing, wagering, and misinformation often proving more valuable than sheer luck. Additional tokens can also be contested through ambush and reconnaissance icons on the cards.
