Product detailed description
An economic strategy game of the Industrial Revolution
Brass: Lancashire (first published simply as Brass) is a highly regarded economic strategy game set in the heart of England’s Industrial Revolution. As rival entrepreneurs in Lancashire, players compete to build industries, expand their canal and rail networks, and profit from the demand for iron, coal, and cotton.
The game is played in two halves – the canal phase and the rail phase. Victory points are scored at the end of each phase for completed connections and developed industries. The player with the most victory points after both phases wins.
Each turn, players take two actions, choosing from building industries, constructing canals or railroads, selling cotton, developing technology, or taking loans. Turn order is determined by how much money was spent in the previous round, adding a clever layer of timing and strategy, including the possibility of taking back-to-back turns.
Shared resources create strong interaction between players – building a rail line may require coal from an opponent’s mine, which in turn brings that mine closer to scoring.
Brass: Lancashire is a deep, strategic game that blends historical theme, economic challenge, and tense competition into one of the most acclaimed titles in modern board gaming.
